I wasn't actually due until Dec. 2, they had given me like 2 or three different dates and that was the date that they were most certain of. However, he decided to enter this world on November 22, so just a little early.
That morning I woke up and was on my way to work, but decided that I should just stop into the clinic b/c I just wasn't feeling right, I didn't feel sick but something was "off". The Friday before, I had been in for my weekly check up and I was 75% effaced and I was dilated to 1. So I stopped into the clinic on the 22ND and the checked me and was 90% effaced and 3cm dilated, the doctor said "Well, it looks as though you are going to have a baby today", I said, "What are you sure? I have to go to work! Are you sure?", she laughed and said I am positive, go straight to the hospital." I left there called my boss (I didn't even call Travis first) and I was like, "Ah I can't come into work today Kelly, apparently I'm going to have a baby!" Then I called Trav, and he asked me the same thing, "Are you sure? How do you know? Etc.... (lol)
So we arrive at the hospital about 11a.m. and I was doin' pretty good, no real hard contractions or anything just relaxed, well then the broke my water (it had already had a leak in my bag) and we waited, well at 12 (I think) they induced me with pitocin.........oh my goodness, the contractions came on with a vengeance, and I could only do it for 4 hours with no pain meds. So at 430pm they gave me the epi and I was good to go, at 7:50 p.m. it was time to start pushing, after pushing for about 40 minutes and 10 good pushes, they told me to reach down and deliver my baby, Yes... I pulled him out! It was the most amazing experience of my life, most people are kind of grossed out when I tell then I pulled him out but how many people can say they get to help deliver their own baby, ya know? I'm very proud of it and plan on doing it the very same way next time. When I get home I will try to find a photo. He was born on 11-22-05 at 8:36p.m. 8lbs 6 oz, 19 2/5" long, and BEAUTIFUL!!!!
