Bedtime Blues

Nope, it's not me who has them. In fact, I LOVE going to bed at night b/c usually I am one pooped out momma from working all day then coming home and playing, feeding, bathing, and snuggling my child.

I'm sure for those of you who have read my blog before can take one guess and know exactly who it is.

Yep.... you're right, it's him. That freakishly adoreable little 2 1/2 year old that lives in our house with us.

He used to get excited to go to bed right after he was starting to sleep in his toddler bed. He'd grab his blanket (his "mi-mi" as he calls it), give everyone hugs and kisses, tell everyone good night and run into his room, hop into his bed and within a few short minutes he'd be out.

Lately he wants his arms rubbed or his back rubbed, so what do we do, we sit there for a little bit and rub until he falls asleep, the right thing to do? No, I already now this so please don't lecture, but I really didn't use t o mind it. But now it is starting to wear on me a little, ok so not a little, A LOT. We have been trying to put him in his room, give hugs and kisses, tell him we love him and to sleep tight and walk out.

Just walk right out to the living room and relax, but then he was starting to get up and stand in his doorway where we could see him, as soon as I would lift my rear-end off the couch he'd giggle and run right back into his room, up into his bed and under the covers, and that was a game (for him of course) we'd play until I sat in there with him until he feel asleep! Now he will maybe come out once or twice but he will lay in his bed or sit up actually, and cry so hard until we come in there. I am SO over this game....

How in the world do I break him from this? Has anyone gone through similar situations, and if so any suggestions for this frustrated momma?

Ladies Man

I found these on my friend Sheri's memory card. These are from my sister and brother-in-law's wedding this past September. Landen was one of the Ring Bearer and Kyla, one of the flower girls.
Kyla is Land's Best Girl!

Hey Jude....

Don't forget to pause MY music on the side....

Life consumes us

And maybe that shouldn't be the title of this post. When you use the word consume in a sentence like that, it sounds bad. I just mean it in a way that there is always something going on. We work all week long, 8 or more hours day in and day out. Am I complaining? You better believe it! I wish there was more time in the day where I/we are spending more time with our child rather than someone else.

Don't get me wrong, we love were the honey-bee goes to daycare (we call it school), and his teachers are beyond amazing, it's just I miss him so much so when I get home all I want to do is hug and squeeze and kiss him and he is at that stage in his life where he doesn't want his mommy kissin' all up on him... poor kiddo, I don't really blame him! lol

And so my rant continues, we have yet another wedding this weekend! However, this one is for T's cousin Sammi! She is such a beautiful girl, so fun and energetic. We don't get to spend much time with her but I love being around her when we do b/c she is always so happy and almost always has a smile on her face.

We wish the best for her and her soon-to-be hubby Nicholas and can't wait for him to join the family! We are really hopin' for some fantastic weather, but when I last checked the weather it was saying 58* and rainy... yuk! I hope not b/c Sammi deserves it to be 72* and sunny out! that's my idea of a perfect day.

Here is the outfit we bought for Land to wear at the wedding.... I am sucker for Gap and I thought that if it was nice enough out I could roll the pants up, but I Wi ll have to see what Mother Nature throws our way, she's been throwing curve balls lately, so it could be anything really. Here's to hoping he can wear the pants rolled up!

Date Night

It was a beautiful day today.

Beautiful.

About 60* and sunny all day long.

I decided we were going to go on a date, just the two of us.

Picked him up and told him where we were going. He was excited.

We were going to a movie at 7pm and I had already made the plans by purchasing the tickets online.

We had some time to kill before the movie started so we grabbed a bite to eat and went next door to play a couple of games.

Just the two of us on "Date Night"

He held my hand and it was wonderful.

We got into the theater and we were the only ones in there to see... "Horton hears a Who"

Yes... Landen and I went on a date tonight and it was so fun!

He lasted halfway through the movie then said "Mommy go Landen's house"

So that was my que that he wanted to go home and go to bed.

What a wonderful, very memorable night.

Thank you for the best evening sweet boy.

I love you. I love you. I love you. Thank you GOD for letting me be the mother of this amazing child. Thank you.

W.W.

These are some of my favorite pictures

It's Black, It's White....

It says "Dude" not Dud

I added some more "white" to the back of his shirt

Landen's daycare had Color Day today. Each class had their own color and in Land's room it was Black and White Day for them.

GOD is great..

I had my MRI yesterday afternoon and that was not fun, nope.. not fun at all.

I was actually pretty worried about how I would do in that small of a place for 45 minutes, but I did very well. NO freak outs is always a good thing!

The Neurology Dept. called me back and said that Dr. Anderson had taken a look at the MRI they had done on my brain and there were no signs of an Aneurysm! Praise God!

You don't even know how thankful I was to hear that heartwarming news. I had a sense that I didn't have an Aneurysm, however just them telling me they weren't sure really put a scare in me.

I am going to hug and kiss my boys so hard when I get home!!!!!

Thanks to all of you for all your thoughts and prayers.

"Belly-Up" and I don't mean at a bar

Me: "Oh No, we've got a floater"
Daddy: WHAT? It's DEAD?
Me: "Sshhh... yes, I'm afraid so"
**Daddy comes in and scoops the poor life-less fish out and puts it in a plastic baggie**
**Landen comes in his room, climbs up his step-stool to see his new friends**
Landen: with so much excitement in his voice "My FISHES!!!!"
** he looks around in the tank with a puzzled expression on his face**
Landen: "Where's the udder fish?"
Me: "He's at the doctor honey."
So we upgraded the tank to one that has a filter/light/more room etc. Daddy took the deceased back to the store for a new one.

Parent Teacher Conferences.....Excuse me while I brag about my kid a little

...were last week, however I couldn't go b/c of all the illness that was going on with me. However they did send home his sheet so we could see how he is doing.

To Learn About Moving:
"Landen is easily able to balance while moving his arms & legs& uses hand-eye coordination for increasingly complex tasks."

To Learn About the World:
"Landen is very good at continuing an activity despite distractions. He is curious about how objects work & begins to group them by similarities. He is beginning to use pretend play & trial & error to solve a problem."

To Learn About Communicating:
"Landen becomes very engaged in books & realizes pictures hold meaning. He is able to understand simple directions & stories & uses small phrases. Landen will imitate conversations using words."

Favorite Activities & Special Interests:

Situations or Experiences that Cause Distress:
"Landen becomes distressed when peers interfere with his play & toys."

** So...all in all I think this is a great report! The last one is something that doesn't surprise me. He does have a hard time sharing and doesn't usually like to be bothered when playing, but will usually share when is asked. So I am pretty dang proud of my lil punk-rocker kid."

Fish and Pirates go hand in hand

My sister has given Land his first Fishtank! So today I went out (b/c I am feeling better and up for getting out of the house.) and bought him a couple of his own little goldfish from PetSmart.

Here he is talking to his new fish

He really wanted his little Pirate friend to go swimming with his two new little friends, I said no.

I asked him what he wanted to name his fish and he said "Kyla". Kylas is the name our friends little girl who is just two months older than he is, I thought that was pretty cute.
**UPDATE on the names** Landen has now switched the name on the Orange/White Goldfish to "Nemo"
hmmm..... I knd of saw that one coming

Then he wantedto play "Pirates" so we both turned our Pirate voices

This Pirate thought he could take me down....

Land has his Pirate walking the "Bed Plank"

He was wrong, I took HIM down.... Arrr Matey!

Sailing the bedside seas..........

Hanging out with Grandma Honey is SO MUCH FUN!

She took them bowling....and they loved it
My beautiful nephew

Eating breakfast at Grandma Honey's, yum!

Daydreaming
My sweaty baby with a full belly

UNFORTUNATELY these were taken with my Sony Cybershot and NOT my Digital SLR
*Neuralgia update* - I have started taking my Lyrica (the meds needed when you have Nueralgia) and it is starting to work and I feel a little better. I still have the pain but it is working for now. If the medication itself doesn't work after a week I will have to get a shot in the back of my head and I don't think that I really want to do that, doesn't sound very pleasant....lol

When it rains it pours...

...and that is just what it is doing outside right now.

I am at home on my couch, immobile in fear that I might throw up again.

I'm beat. Physically and mentally beat and exhausted.

Yesterday I was at work, the day before I had been having some serious sharp pains in the back of my head, kind of behind my ear. I have had these about twice a year over a period of several years. But it was never as bad as it was yesterday, never.

I went into walk in and waited for over an hour to see someone, and ta this point the pain is so bad that I am wincing with every shock/stabbing that occurs, man, I tell ya, that sucked.

Long story short he isn't sure what is causing the pain so they send me down for a CT Scan. It comes back normal, phew! This particular doctor consults some other doctors and they say I need to see someone in Neurology, so they get me in the same day. Before I leave they give me a shot of something in my butt cheek and it makes the pain go, however it brought on instant nausea, instant. So they give me Zofran to get rid of the nausea, but it only makes it worse... what?

So my sister drives me to Neurology downtown and the Dr. does some testing on me and asks me all these questions (of course, standard protocol), she says I have what is called "Neuralgia"(p.s. in the link, it says something about shingles or Herpes, just so you know I do NOT have either one of those things).

So I have an MRI scheduled in a week or so, and from what I gathered was she is scheduling it because she wants to make sure I don't have an aneurysm. Uh ya.. how much of a bummer would that be!

So here I am, on my couch, nauseous, head pain, complaining , and what else is there to do but nap? Blog complain of course.

Of course.

Dearest Mother Nature.....

Photobucket

I am waiting patiently, as we all are for the crap weather to cease and for the nice weather to begin and stay.

I'm at work (of course, where else would I be?) and it is raining outside and only about 25-30* outside. The two combined is not fun, not fun at all especially when you drove a moped.

So Mother Nature, if you can hear me, or if you can read this, let's come to some sort of agreement.

I will plant nice flowers and doing yard chores as I should. I will try to be more eco-conscious (as I have already started that). We will plant another tree in our yard and try not to kill it. We will not litter (which we do not do anyways), and If i am walking somewhere and I see some trash on the ground I will pick it up and throw it away. If......

You make SPRING appear, and stay the length it's supposed to be here. That's all I want.

For it to be nice outside so we can get out of our "cabin-fever" rut and live it up in the yard, grillin', hanging with our neighbors, letting the kiddos run around barefoot through sprinklers and just enjoy our backyards.

Does this work for you?

Blogging Blues?

It seems to me that I haven't been the best blogger lately, actually ever since I got back from my trip to Co. it has been very minimal.

I am going to try to do better, although don't expect too much, b/c it is finally nice outside! And here I am at work, 2 appointments have not showed up so far which annoys me.

On another note, after work yesterday I picked up the babe and we let the dog out to join us for some fun in the yard. We fired up the battery in Landen's F-150 and tooled around the whole yard in it. It was so funny (well at least I thought so b/c it has 2 speeds; a turtle speed of 2.5 mph, and the hare speed of 5.0 mph) b/c we usually keep the speed at the slow speed but yesterday I thought I'd crack it up a notch for him. He stepped on the gas and was zooming around the back yard so fast I felt like I could hardly keep up with him, not to mention I was laughing so hard that my cheeks and belly hurt. He thought he was so cool and was having so much fun.

Then we got out the golf clubs, yes he has golf clubs. Now mind you they are not plastic, they are real hard metal clubs that he got for a present so we keep them outside be the combination of Landen and anything that resembles a stick of some sort = DANGER! or a busted up shin.

He found a big patch of ice/snow and was "chipping" away at that with his clubs for a good 20 minutes. Then we got hungry, so we went inside and ordered a pizza. Had a nice relaxing night and off to bed we all went.

Now today he is at my sisters with his cousin Spencer for the afternoon while I WORK. It is around 50* outside, it's beautiful, I love it.

WE have a grill out to go to later at our friend Stacy and Brett's house later at 5:30p.m. and Spencer is going to sleep over so he will come with us so all the kiddos can play together. I will try to get pictures, b/c I haven't taken any or posted any in a long time.

Oh... and since I am so compulsive I have decided that I want to try Dirt Biking. Figure this one out!

PLEASE Pray for them.......please

pray

A couple of blog friends of mine are going through some very serious family health issues.

Please pray for them. You can go here to read about it and send your thoughts and prayers.

Mck Mama's Blog, or her sister Hilary's blog.

Lotty-dah

Well, since my last post things have gone better.

I am trying not to be so sensitive and let life take it's course, let my son be MY SON, and let my relationship flow.

I have recently started reading a couple of books and one of them is this:

eat pray love

So far it is great... really great. The Author Elizabeth Gilbert is so funny and right to the point.

I haven't had the chance, or maybe I should say "taken" the chance to sit down and read a book and now I am glad I did, b/c so far this book is opening my eyes to a lot of different things.

I am going to keep my appointment with the Couples' and Children's Counselor b/c I feel that I need it, others disagree, that I don't NEED to go see a counselor b/c my mothering is just fine, but I tend to disagree at times, ya know, I can be doubtful at times (I think this past month and a half have been rough for me for some reason, I just keep getting down on myself about things...).

Sorry I was sidetracking, anyways I am reading this book and really enjoy it and recommend it. I also have purchased : A New Earth - Awakening to your life's purpose, Devotions for a Sacred Marriage - A year of Weekly Devotions for Couples, and The MacArthur Study Bible - Updated and Revised Version.
So if you are looking for me... I'm in my bed reading my brains out!
