Our first wedding!

Well as most/many of you know my sister and I are working really hard on getting a photography business up and running and so far...so good!
We have our first wedding in October, we are both sooo excited, yet nervous at the same time.
So for those of you out there, do you have any suggestions for us? Being our first wedding and all.....

How exciting for you! My only suggestion...when I got married I made a check list for the photographer of every photo I wanted. I think I downloaded one from the internet. He didn't get every photo I wanted after all, and I was a bit ticked...

You and Katie will do a wonderful job! Any one I know???

I know my sister just constantly snaps photos of everything, every moment. She makes sure to take time to get the right photos too. She ends up with very interesting photos sometimes lol. Good luck Kim i am so proud of you!

I was terrified when I shot my first wedding - for my 20-year old cousin - who wasn't expecting professional quality, but I did my best to deliver that. :) I had nightmares for months leading up to it.

I have a few (million) pointers - most of which I have learned the hard way - lol. I'll just give you a few of them.

1) KNOW your equipment inside and out. Read your manuals back to front and front to back. Practice what you read in the manuals before the big day.

2) Shoot like crazy. Shoot everything. Then try shooting it from a differnet angle. Don't stop shooting. But don't get so caught up in the bouquet that you miss the first kiss.

3) Make sure you have backups for everything. I didn't at my first two weddings, and it was okay, but equipment does break, goes haywire, or just flakes out.

4) Have a TON of batteries for everything that requires batteries.

5) Have twice as much memory available to you than you think you'll need. If you think you'll fill up 4 GBs of CF cards, bring 8 GBs worth.

6) Try to have at least 3 lenses with you - a nice fast prime lens that can open waaaay up for low light and for portraits (50 1.8 is my fave), a good all-around lens (24-70) and a zoom lens (70-200 or so).

7) Check out blogs of some great photographers to get inspired:

8) Make sure you put your batteries in the right way. LOL
