Going Green people....UPDATED

Ok, so I have a few questions for those of you who are being "Eco-Friendly". I have been trying to do some online researching and I have ran across this website. Has anyone heard of it or even use/used it?
I was looking into purchasing the
Starter kit but know that a lot of you mommies could possible give me some insight on making this transistion.

I would love some advice, suggestions, links, etc. on where to start, what works the best, what's the safest, etc.

Thank you so much for helping me this. The more I think about it, the more I WANT to start now and make my house more Eco-Friendly for My family, my pets, and myself.

Update: I think I may sig up with Melaleuca, has anyone heard about this company?

Hi Kim!

Yes, I've heard lots about melaleuca. Lots of people here use them for several different products.

You know what I'd like to get my hands on? A site that shows how to make your own cleaners with 'safe' household products like vinegar.
I'm sure that's just common sense (but I don't have any ;)

Hi Kim! Yes, I use the Shaklee products, among many others. The Shaklee stuff lasts absolutely FOREVER. The 3 different bottles are GREAT. And, it really works well. The scrub stuff is excellent, too, for heavy duty. As far as $$ wise, this is by FAR the cheapest route to go. One other brand I LOVE is Method (sold at Target). I LOVE the almond scent (and it's all natural)- of course, non-toxic. I use it for my wood floors, and also their dusting cleaner. I used to use just vinegar and water on the floor. It only takes a tiny tiny amount of vinager to truly disinfect and kill germs. The problem is that it only takes a tiny tiny bit of vinager to stink up the place, too. Smell dissipates after a while, but my hubby refused after a while. So, I stick with Method and Shaklee.

Hey Kim! Good for you for doing Melaleuca! I have heard really great things about it- just never tried it personally. Regardless of what you choose, you are making a wonderful decision- and in the end it will be SOOO much cheaper- you will see! Most importantly, you can rest assured you are doing the best for your boys (big and little)- and yourself ;)

Kim, we know people who sell both. The Melaluca stuff is hard, because you have to buy 'so' much a month to be able to be a member. We never followed through with that...

We have friends that sell Shaklee, and they say it's great! We use the cleaning stuff at church!

Best of luck!

Kim, I've used Melaleuca since I was pregnant with my first. She's nine now. I first started using the products because of my eczema. I used the lotion and laundry detergent. It cleared me up within months and I've lived with it for my entire life. I got hooked and use many of their products now including vitamins, kids vitamins, laundry products, soaps, lotions, cleaning products. My middle child has asthma, eczema, and food allergies and these products have helped her clear up rashes and stay healthy with the vitamins. The other great thing is that these products come in concentrate and it takes forever to go through it with less bottle waste and it's totally ingestible if a kid or animal licks it up it won't kill them like other household products.I would recommend them to anyone!!

Kim, We are a Shaklee family! My husband was raised on it (his mom has been a distributor for over 20 years.) We use everything from the household cleaners, to the supplements for ourselves and our children, to the bath & beauty products for myself and the baby.. And yes, the products LAST FOREVER! But I know friends who use Melaleuca too and I think they would either be great choices.

so crazy. Last week in December I went to a Melaleuca "Toxic Teaparty." That is where I learned of all the toxins we come in contact with every day. I signed up immediately. I just HAD to save my family from cancer...right?! Then after doing research between Melaleuca and Shaklee (my parents and grandparents have used Shaklee for years) I decided that I liked Shaklee better. I like that it tells you what's in their products whereas Melaleuca doesn't give out that info. I ordered Melaleuca's starter kit and then 3 weeks later canceled. Since then, I have signed up with Shaklee and have recieved their Get Clean starter kit also. Yes! We're set on cleaners for the rest of our lives now! After using both for over a month now, I like Shaklee's products over Melaleuca's. But I DO LOVE the mint hand soap from Mel. Good luck and way to go in becoming more "green."
